Some More Thrift Finds

Our day started early to get ahead of the traffic. We wanted to hit the shops early before they became crowded. We learned a while back, in this case, the early bird saying definitely applies with thrift, and tag sales.  I was looking for a number of things today, but was not successful. I always say, never plan because you will definitely end up with nada...and this is exactly what happened today. After only three stores and picking up some pieces for my bedrooms, I was ready to call it a day. I did see a few other pieces, but I just didn't have that feeling about buying them. You know what I mean...the items are not speaking to you, and you can't see them in your decor anywhere!

The ribbon/floral motif' that's on the pitcher goes well in my bedroom. (I took these pics as before, then later I'll show you the after in the bedroom).
The set below will go well in my peach bedroom since it's a beige color. Notice I bought another bowl and pitcher set. Who knows, we might have to use them the way they were used in older days. I'll be ready, right?

The books in the picture were given to me along with the small picture frame and swan. Finally, in the bottom pic the carousal rockers were also a gift. A friend asked me once, why do you always get things free? I shrugged...I wasn't about to tell her any of my secrets!

What's For Supper

Today was so much like a Spring day, it wasn't hard for me to decide and prepare a meal. I went out and cleaned the winterness from the front porch, carried out my porch furniture and set it up for a twilight supper for two. I finished preparing the chicken salad, then went to the bin for potatoes to bake. No potatoes! So, this is why you see steak fries on my plate! I prepared a few condiments, and served  tall glasses of iced tea.
It couldn't get any better than this. Afterwards, we had coffee and slices of lemon pound cake. How cool is that!
Final note: I tried to tell you what happened because...I forgot to take a picture!! Everything went wrong when I started, but I was determined to carry it out! Did you ever have this to happen to you?

Their Suffering and Destruction

I am appalled at the negative insults and offensive, curt remarks of some folks about the suffering, death and destruction of those poor people in Japan! To be this indifferent is troubling, even unnatural. You have to wonder, where is the compassion, the love of neighbor...the natural feelings for fellowmen!
How can they watch the devastating loss of everything, of lives of men, women, children, and babies! All are God's creation! These people are suffering through no fault of their own. If they were to read Scripture, then they would know why these things are occurring! God is not singling out any humans. (Matthew 24:1, 6-8) tells why these things are happening!
Their suffering certainly does not deserve this inhumane treatment by others! One important question I'd like to pose: how will you people with harden hearts, endure your test when the hour of trial comes upon the whole world? (Revelation 3:10) Thinking you're sitting in the cat-bird seat now certainly may not be as cushy as you think! Lord God, what has happened to Compassion...
I don't pretend to have all the answers here, but folks this is a given...love thy neighbor!

My Tomatoes Keep On Giving

Good Morning. Beautiful weather out of my window today. Spring is definitely in the air! Grass is growing, trees are budding, everything is growing and alive! If you are in a funk, get outside and take in the beauty of God's wonderful creations! The best medicine there is.
Can you believe it! I still have tomatoes from last year's garden! I had to pick them when the first frost came, and then stored them in a brown paper bag in the pantry. When they started to ripen, I used them all winter, and theses are the few remaining ones.
I bought the plant at a local Wal-Mart; it was a Bonnie plant called, "Husky Cherry Red". The plant was very healthy, and larger than the other ones so, I decided to try it.
We planted it in a large round planter with well composted soil. I also added other soil additives and staked it. Watering was very important and I fed it with Miracle-Gro for tomatoes. Thought you'd want to try them out. I'm going to plant my Spring garden soon and I'll show you how/what I do to have a successful garden.

Hope your day a prosperous and peaceful one. Luv-Loretta

Happy Monday Morning

Hope you all had a good weekend. In our neck of the woods this morning, we woke to a nasty thunder/electrical storm! It was harrowing for a while! Trees down, power out and all the other things that scares you in a storm like this. Thank goodness its over!
I did a little catching up this weekend while I could get aroung better, finishing up more projects.

Look at her Booties with the white bows!

I love weaving these little coasters and using them for, you guessed it, my Cherry Dr. Pepper! Love it! The babies finally came out of their  jammies, but I still have one more dress to make. This reminds me of sewing dresses for my girls when they were young. The headbands are a bit too small for the size of their head. I'll have to redo them, but no hurry!
